The 2024 Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum triathlon

took place on June 4th in Gunsan, South Korea. This long-distance triathlon marked a return to pro racing in the region, featuring both a full 226 km distance and a middle-distance event.

Participants swam 3.8 km in the Yellow Sea, biked 180 km along the world’s longest seawall in the Saemangeum area, and finished with a 42.2 km run through the Saemangeum Project, Korea's largest reclamation area. The course offered athletes a unique experience with scenic routes through islands and ocean views.

The event attracted over 1,000 participants, including professional triathletes such as Caleb Noble (AUS) and Magda Nieuwoudt (RSA). The support from the local government and community helped make the race a standout event in the Challenge Family series, known for its welcoming and athlete-focused environment
